Recognised Spark Business

Marcus Hill

Marcus, a final year University of Leeds Law student, started to venture into drone photography during lockdown and had a goal to turn his hobby into a profitable business.

‘I am hugely passionate about drones and have always owned them, which led me to start Wigram Drones in order to make a difference for local businesses and their marketing efforts by using them.’

Wigram Drones, a drone photography provider with a focus on 3D interactive panoramic photos, allowing businesses and organisations to showcase their facility from above. Panoramic photos will be the unique selling point, with these being interactive for customers and easily shared on social media, websites or information pages, allowing users to look around as if they were at the event from above, easily seeing entrances, exits and other important areas which are pinpointed on the panoramic photo.

‘I used the funds I received from my Scholarship to purchase a DJI Mavic 3 Pro, a high-end drone which will be used to provide these services. I now have two drones in the fleet allowing two range types of flying within the current law. Without the support through Spark, I wouldn’t be able to pursue my business once finishing university.’

In addition, they can also provide construction site and roof surveys, allowing commercial properties to easily be inspected from above, which is often in demand on a regular basis to assess compliance and inspect buildings for any problems, especially in inaccessible places such as high rooftops.

Marcus will be focusing on his business full time in September once he finishes University, having started marketing, and already completed several jobs.
